Chemical composition test: raw materials and castings undergo this test to guarantee the correct chemical composition.
Ultrasound and X-ray tests: these tests exclude materials which present defects or impurities which cannot be immediately seen by the naked eye. |
| Air leakage test (tubeless): the wheels are immersed in a tank of water in which air is injected at 5-7 atmospheres. In this way any air leaks caused by porosity are identified. |
| Penetrating liquids test: any surface cracks or micro-defects are identified using penetrating liquids, which are highlighted through difference in colour or by ultra-violet rays |
| Rotational bending test: the wheel is subjected to the same mechanical stress that a car undergoes on a bend, taking the forces in play to the limit. |
| Biaxial machine test: simulates the behaviour and reactions of the wheel on a dynamic driving route which includes bends, straight stretches, hills and rough surfaces at maximum load. In these conditions the wheel simulates a driving distance of about 300,000 km. |
| Rolling test: simulates the behaviour and reactions of the wheel on a straight route at maximum load, at a speed of 100km/h. |
| Impact test: this is the classic test of resistance to impact which the wheels undergo to simulate the stresses caused by strain or impact to which a wheel could be subjected during use on the road. |
| Size check: this is carried out visually and using instruments to check the dimensions, the circular shape and concentricity of the wheels. Tolerances of a few tenths of a millimetre are allowed when carrying out these tests. |
